Endless turns in every direction, deep valleys and high mountains are just some of the things the area has to offer. Combine this with an excellent, local cuisine and culture and you have Touring in Telemark - a unique driving experience!

This package includes:

  • 3 nights in hotels
  • Dinner at each hotel
  • Breakfast at each hotel
  • Aperitif at Søstrene Storaas

The package is based on driving your own MC or car.

Day 1: Check in at Søstrene Storaas

Just 1,5 hours from Oslo you find Søstrene Storaas, a charming hotel run by the three sisters Solveig, Henriette and Else. Located just at the border to Telemark the hotel is the gateway to great driving experiences and the perfect starting point for your trip!

The concept and interiors of the hotel is inspired by the rich family history from around the world. In the reception you can see the crocodile that ate their great-great-grandfathers dog, taste grandmas homemade caramel pudding in the restaurant and sleep in rooms named after the nicknames in the family. The sisters are passionate about sharing their heritage with the guests through homemade bread, warmth and personal stories.

Behind the hotel you find Storaas Farm. Here you'll find pigs and sheep out in the summer, and the rich garden provides the main ingredients to many of the dishes served in the hotel. This is just one of the things that reduces the emissions from the hotel.

Together with the aperitif you'll be served a good story and for dinner we serve a 3-course menu with homemade and local produce.

After a good dinner you get a good nights sleep in one of the charming rooms of the hotel before new driving experiences awaits the next day.

Day 2: Onwards to Vrådal and Straand Hotel

The next day the road goes on to Straand Hotel in Vrådal. We recommend taking the detour through Notodden with a stop at Heddal Stave Church and perhaps even Norway's largest water park, Bø Sommarland.

Straand Hotel is filled to the brim with history, unique facilities, delicious homemade food and an atmosphere you don't get to experience often. The hotel started as a shuttle station and is now a family owned hotel in it's fifth generation. The family's hospitality and traditions have been handed down from generation to generation and now, 150 years later, you still feel at home here.

The hotel is also the first in Norway to be a "Bikers Welcome"-hotel. That means that you will always be met with a cup of coffee and tips for great routes and experiences along the way.

You'll arrive at the hotel early in the afternoon. On selected days, the veteran boat MS Fram invites you on a guided cruise through the stunning nature with departure from just outside the hotel. Check their web page for departure dates.

Back at the hotel you'll get to relax and enjoy the view over the beautiful nature of Vrådal from the hotels terrace. In the restaurant you will be served a delicious dinner based on local ingredients.

Day 3: From Vrådal to the World Heritage city of Rjukan

After breakfast you'll make your way to the UNESCO-listed city of Rjukan and experience the city's rich story at Rjukan Admini Hotel.

The hotel was built in 1908 by the founder of Norsk Hydro, Sam Eyde, and has since been a well kept secret under the ownership of Hydro. The guest list throughout the years has consisted of many royalties, politicians and heroes, but today the hotel has opened up as a small exclusive hotel with 15 rooms in a unique style consisting of designer furniture and modern comfort.

At Rjukan the experiences are not far apart:

  • Visit the majestic Gaustadtoppen and see 1/6 of Norway
  • Travel with the Rjukan-banen or one of the Hydro Ferries
  • Walk The Saboteur's trail
  • Visit the heavy water cellar

Dive into the rich history of the area before you enjoy a hearty, local 3-course dinner in the historic dining hall at the hotel.

Day 4: Check out and new adventures

After a hearty breakfast the next morning you can continue the exploration of the area surrounding Rjukan.
