Day 1: Welcome to Nevlunghavn

The adventure starts just across the border to Telemark, at Nevlunghavn Guesthouse - a journey into history, local flavors, and the breathtaking beauty of the Skagerrak coastline. Since the 19th century, this haven has welcomed beachgoers, offering the perfect blend of timeless tradition and modern indulgence.

The magic of Nevlunghavn lies in the details. Golden glasses glinting in the candlelight, lobster served on crisp white tablecloths, and tales of rugged seafarers and dramatic shipwrecks. With 15 thoughtfully designed rooms and charming boathouses, Nevlunghavn Guesthouse promises an experience of timeless comfort. Each room has a story to tell, and many feature furnished balconies, perfect for soaking in panoramic sea views. Your cozy bathrobe becomes your trusted companion, whether for enjoying a lazy morning with room service or taking the short stroll to a refreshing dip in the ocean.

At Nevlunghavn, food is not just a necessity – it’s an art form. Begin your day with fresh, homemade pastries, and end it with a sophisticated dessert like sorbet, every meal reflecting the finest in taste and quality. The kitchen takes pride in sourcing fresh ingredients daily – seafood straight from the Skagerrak via its own pier-side fish market, and produce from nearby farms. From freshly cooked shrimp and succulent crayfish to the catch of the day, every dish is paired with the best seasonal vegetables. The sea air sharpens your appetite, and the exquisite flavors will make you want to linger at the table just a little longer.

At Nevlunghavn, the sea, history, and heartfelt hospitality come together to create a sanctuary of relaxation, indulgence, and memorable adventures. Come to be spoiled, and stay for the memories that will last a lifetime.

Day 2: Check in to Vrådal

Your adventure starts at Straand Hotel in Vrådal. From Oslo, we recommend taking the detour through Notodden with a stop at Heddal Stave Church and perhaps even Norway's largest water park, Bø Sommarland.

Straand Hotel is filled to the brim with history, unique facilities, delicious homemade food and an atmosphere you don't get to experience often. The hotel started as a shuttle station and is now a family owned hotel in it's fifth generation. The family's hospitality and traditions have been handed down from generation to generation and now, 150 years later, you still feel at home here.

The hotel is also the first in Norway to be a "Bikers Welcome"-hotel. That means that you will always be met with a cup of coffee and tips for great routes and experiences along the way.

You'll arrive at the hotel early in the afternoon. On selected days, the veteran boat MS Fram invites you on a guided cruise through the stunning nature with departure from just outside the hotel. Check their web page for departure dates.

Back at the hotel you'll get to relax and enjoy the view over the beautiful nature of Vrådal from the hotels terrace. In the restaurant you will be served a delicious dinner based on local ingredients.

Day 3: From Vrådal to the World Heritage city of Rjukan

After breakfast you'll make your way to the UNESCO-listed city of Rjukan and experience the city's rich story at Rjukan Admini Hotel.

The hotel was built in 1908 by the founder of Norsk Hydro, Sam Eyde, and has since been a well kept secret under the ownership of Hydro. The guest list throughout the years has consisted of many royalties, politicians and heroes, but today the hotel has opened up as a small exclusive hotel with 15 rooms in a unique style consisting of designer furniture and modern comfort.

At Rjukan the experiences are not far apart:

  • Visit the majestic Gaustadtoppen and see 1/6 of Norway
  • Travel with the Rjukan-banen or one of the Hydro Ferries
  • Walk The Saboteur's trail
  • Visit the heavy water cellar

Dive into the rich history of the area before you enjoy a hearty, local 3-course dinner in the historic dining hall at the hotel.

Day 4: Check out and new adventures

After a hearty breakfast the next morning you can continue the exploration of the area surrounding Rjukan.
