Hoel Manor

Hoel Gård – a delightful, old estate on Mjøsa Lake, with a wonderful location on the Nes peninsula.

This large farming estate is situated in one of the best preserved cultural landscapes in Norway, with beautiful views of Norway’s largest lake, in which the surrounding green meadows are perfectly mirrored.

Your hosts, the Sandberg family, make full use of the many different buildings on the estate and their cultural history to provide a delightful setting for guests attending courses and conferences, small and large celebrations, spending the night and attending cultural events – all year round.

The farm focus on the use of local produce in their kitchens, and many of the ingredients prepared come from their own gardens. A gourmet meal served in the restored pigsty, based on the strong local culinary traditions, is an experience not to be missed.

Adventure across Mjøsa with DS "Skibladner"

Welcome to a world of exciting sights, sounds and smells. Unspoiled scenery. Warm hospitality. And a ship that’s been sailing for 160 years!

The world's oldest preserved paddle steamer in timetabled service, with live steam engines, paddle wheels and a speed of 12 knots. "Skibladner" is the pride of Norway's inland, and one of Norway's best-loved tourist attractions. You can easily make a day trip on her if you are staying in the Oslo area – or planning to visit Lillehammer.

Skibladner was launched on August 2, 1856 – and has plied the waters of Lake Mjøsa ever since. Originally an express passenger and goods service from the north to the south of the lake, she is now a cherished tourist attraction and preserved historic vessel operating as a living museum.

Treat yourself to a culinary experience by dining at one of the district’s best restaurants — aboard a working paddle steamer! Skibladner’s first class dining saloon has a proud 167-year history and serves the famous salmon & strawberries menu as well as many others.

A voyage on this unique vessel is an experience not to be missed! Skibladner sails from Nes quay, right next to Hoel manor, passing idyllic country towns basking in the Norwegian summer sunshine across Mjøsa - Norway's largest lake.
