Day 1: Knutholmen

This short break starts at Knutholmen in idyllic Kalvåg - one of the best-preserved fishing villages in the west country - which is itself a large living hotel. From the room you can enjoy a beautiful view of the lake and the charming village. Knutholmen has a large and wide range of exciting activities. From the hotel's new floating sauna, you can enjoy the view of charming rudders, small fishing boats and a bustling bird life. You can also join a fishing trip with local stories or go hiking in one of the many hiking trails.

 

The dinner consists of tasty and local delicacies from the sea, either as a shellfish platter - or on Saturdays in the form of a Knutholmen's famous seafood buffet - with fresh and freshly cooked seafood.

 

 

Day 2: On the road to Visnes Hotel

After a good night's sleep you have time to enjoy a good breakfast, pack your lunch and fill up your thermos before exploring the magnificent surrounding area. Enjoy the morning on the jetty and greet the otter peeking out of the sea, or the eagle sailing past, before you leave the fjord coast and the mighty ocean in the direction of Nordfjordeid.

 

Nordfjord is a compact and complete piece of Norway, with fjord, glacier and mountains. In Nordfjordeid you can stop in Eidsgata, take a stroll and visit the Viking Museum or take the panoramic road further towards Stryn. If you have extra time, we recommend taking an excursion to Loen - only a 10-minute drive from Stryn. Here you can take the distinctive Skylift and then drive on into Lodalen, where you can read about the Lodal accidents and experience the dramatic nature.

 

After wonderful nature experiences, you finally arrive at Visnes Hotel - a charming Swiss-style hotel that has been welcoming guests since 1850. The hotel is located 500 meters from the center of Stryn and in the middle of the major attractions in Western Norway. A stay at Visnes offers many impressions from the western Norwegian fjords with their unique nature and cultural history. The hotel has 15 rooms, all decorated in different styles with inspiration from the interwar period.

 

In the evening, you will be served an aperitif before dinner together with an exciting story-telling. Then a 3-course dinner awaits with a choice of fish, meat or vegetarian as the main course. Then enjoy the rest of the evening on the balcony or take a trip to the center of Stryn.

 

Day 3: Onwards to new adventures

This last day, breakfast is served in the "old kitchen" where the hosts will welcome you to a good start to the day with home-baked bread and a chat about the day's excursion. Feel free to stay several nights, because there is a lot to experience here!

 

Stryn is an eldorado for the active tourist. The activities are many and can be adapted to everyone in the family. Here you will find Skålatårnet in Loen, Via Ferrata, Loen Gondola and particularly good conditions for summit tours. See more activities at Visit Nordfjord.
