The Canal Boat M/S Victoria

Welcome to one of the world’s most beautiful canal journeys!

M/S Victoria takes you on a calm, scenic voyage through the Telemark Canal between Skien and Dalen. On board, you can sit back and watch the landscape unfold as the ship passes through historic locks, stone-lined canal walls, former lock keeper’s houses, quiet inlets, and traditional piers. The ship’s restaurant serves food and drinks that can be enjoyed both indoors and on deck.

The vessel features two lounges below deck, a spacious forward deck, and a covered aft deck offering excellent views in all weather conditions.

Often referred to as the Queen of the Canal, M/S Victoria was built at Akers Mekaniske Verksted and launched in 1882. Originally a steamship, she was later converted to a motor vessel and has operated continuously on the Telemark Canal ever since. The ship is named after Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden–Norway. Her history is carried forward by generations of crew, including Captain Prestoholt and today his grandson, Captain Tor Rønningen, alongside Captain Roy Glemmestad. Both captains have more than 25 years of experience navigating the canal.
