Day 1: Geiranger and Union Hotel

The journey begins in Geiranger at the historic Union Hotel.

Built in 1891, Hotel Union Geiranger has since been expanded with a modern conference area, swimming pool, new top floor with 13 suites, vintage car exhibition, nightclub, spa area, and constantly evolving offerings both inside and outside. The strong Union atmosphere, characterized by quality and service across generations, is still cherished and carried on by today's hosts. Geiranger – a gem on the World Heritage List.

The unique natural surroundings of the Geirangerfjord were created through a series of ice ages when glaciers carved deep fjords between the high mountains. This natural beauty has consistently placed the area on lists of the most spectacular places in the world. Impressive waterfalls, such as the famous Seven Sisters, the Suitor, and the Bridal Veil, cascade into the fjord, enveloped in a delicate mist.

After checking in at Hotel Union Geiranger, take a stroll through the small center consisting of boathouses and old wooden houses. Visit the various small shops and taste Geiranger's own chocolate or other local products.

Day 2: Experience beautiful Geiranger

Start the day with a delicious breakfast before embarking on activities of your choice.

Here are some suggestions to fill your day:

· Put on your hiking shoes and hike the national hiking trail up to Fosseråsa. Along the way, you'll also pass by Storsæterfossen, which is a magnificent sight. Imagine what everyday life was like on the small farms of Skageflå and Knivsflå, where the houses cling to the rock face, hundreds of meters above the fjord. It's a steep hike, but we promise it's worth it!

· Rent a kayak and see the majestic mountains from a different perspective.

· Are you ready for an adrenaline rush? Zip through the air on a zipline or feel your pulse racing as you climb through wild canyons.

...or you can simply enjoy a significant portion of the day in the hotel's spa:

At Union Bad, you can relax and enjoy the atmosphere, well-being, and tranquility. Here, you'll find an indoor swimming pool and relaxation areas with a fireplace, sauna, as well as an outdoor therapy pool with jacuzzi, massage jets, and a cobra feature. Treatments are not included in the price. Choose the one that tempts you the most and make a reservation here.

In the evening, enjoy a three-course dinner with a fantastic view overlooking the Geirangerfjord.

Day 3: From Geiranger to Trondheim

Enjoy the buffet breakfast at Hotel Union before the drive to Trondheim.

There are several routes to Trondheim:

Alternative 1 (7,5 hrs)

Via Molde - and preferably with the Atlantic Road. Navigate through the 11 tight hairpin bends along the Ørnevegen road - a part of the national tourist route between Geiranger and Trollstigen. At the Ørnesvingen viewpoint, you can take a break and enjoy the view. If you're looking for an even more breathtaking experience, check out the Geiranger Skywalk at Dalsnibba, which is located 1500 meters above sea level. You can actually drive all the way up!

At Valldal Safteri, you can taste juice and jams made from fresh berries from the various local villages, and during the season, you can buy a basket of strawberries or even pick them yourself!

There are two ferries on the journey, both operating regularly. Check the timetables for the two ferries in advance:

· Eidsdal to Linge: Departs every 20 minutes. The crossing takes about 15 minutes. Check the timetables with Fjord1.

· Vestnes to Molde: Departs every 20 minutes. The crossing takes about 35 minutes. Check the timetables with FRAM.

Alternative 2 (7 hrs)

Same direction as alternative 1, but just before reaching Vestnes, take a detour via Åndalsnes, Sunndalsøra to Oppdal, and continue to Trondheim.

Alternative 3 (5,5 hrs)

Here, you drive towards Grotli from Geiranger. Then head towards Vågå, Dombås, Oppdal, and further to Trondheim.

Upon arrival in Trondheim, check in at the luxurious Britannia Hotel.

Britannia Hotel has undergone extensive renovation and has emerged as one of Norway's finest hotels. Located in the heart of Trondheim, the hotel has been a historic landmark and icon in the city center. Monarchs and adventurers have visited the hotel throughout history. The restoration of the hotel has preserved the old atmosphere while giving it a new and modern touch. The handmade beds and the beautiful bathrooms made with Carrara marble give a very luxurious feel.

After a day filled with many impressions along the way, you can relax in Britannia Spa, a beautifully decorated, modern, and elegant oasis. Among their facilities are a heated pool, several saunas, an ice bath, relaxation rooms, a large gym, and six treatment rooms, among others. They offer a comprehensive range of treatments, and it is recommended to book a session in advance, either for this afternoon or the next day.

Relax and enjoy dinner in one of the restaurants at Britannia Hotel.

If you're not ready to call it a night yet, we recommend having a glass of wine in the Wine Bar with exciting wines from around the world or stopping by Britannia Bar, a timeless and sophisticated cocktail bar.

Day 4: Experience Trondheim

At Britannia, it's easy to be enchanted by all the luxury before you check out. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the Palmehaven. It serves meat and cheese from local farms arranged in small pre-made dishes. In addition, there is a wide selection of coffee from their own barista. Take a leisurely morning in your room, take the opportunity to use the excellent gym with modern, high-quality equipment, or fully enjoy the spa area.

Trondheim is rich in cultural experiences and ancient Norwegian history. Nidaros Cathedral is impressive. Cross the old wooden bridge to Bakklandet or take a boat trip to Munkholmen if the weather permits.

Feel free to extend your stay with more days and experience Trondheim city. Take your time, preferably several days. There is so much to experience here! See a list of activities here.
