Day 2: Fjord cruise to Mostraumen and dinner at Bryggen Tracteursted
After a good night’s sleep and a lovely a la carte breakfast, you stroll down to Zachariasbryggen at the Fish Market in Bergen city centre. Here you’ll board the catamaran which takes you out on a great day cruise in the scenic archipelago along the fjord coast.
The departure time is stated on your ticket.
Sailing out from the city center gives us a great view of Bryggen in Bergen, which is on UNESCO’s world heritage list. From there, we sail through magnificent scenery in the Osterfjord towards Modalen, Norway’s second smallest municipality. The crew takes us safely through powerful currents of the shallow and narrow Mostraumen straits. The further into the fjord we venture, the steeper and more powerful the mountain landscape becomes. We pass several cascading waterfalls. The captain steers the boat so close to the waterfalls that you risk feeling its refreshing spray on your face! The beautiful fjord landscape is rich in bird and animal life, and, with a little luck, we might see seals sunbathing on the rocky shore or even eagles soaring over us.
Rødne aims to run the most environmentally friendly operations possible for our fjord cruise tourism, and to give our guests from all over the world a sustainable fjord experience of the highest quality.
The journey is coming to an end as we arrive in Bergen at approx. 13.30, so have plenty of time to explore the city before dinner. See our recommended sightseeing activities in Bergen here.
Dinner this evening is enjoyed at Bryggen Tracteursted which is located in the heart of Bryggen in Bergen. The site from 1708 has been reopened with respect for the historic surroundings and is located only a 5 minute walk from Zachariasbryggen. In its historic premises it introduces guests to local specialities. Here, a 5-course seasonal Bergen menu is served.
