Day 1: Welcome to Lofthus

Check in at Hotel Ullensvang, situated in the heart of Hardanger, approx. 115 km from Bergen and 40 km from Voss. Hotel Ullensvang’s history dates back to 1846. Today, the hotel has an impressive range of facilities, including the wonderful Ullensvang Bath with swimming pools indoors and outdoors, a tennis court and a restaurant serving dishes based on wonderful local produce. Located at the heart of beautiful Hardanger, the hotel is the perfect base for exploring the region. Did you know that the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg was a regular guest, and his little composer's cabin is still in the hotel garden?

After enjoying the facilities and historic surroundings the dinner is served in the hotel's restaurant (from 7 pm).

Day 2: The cradle of fruit cultivation

Start your day with a delicious breakfast in the hotel's restaurant before enjoying what Lofthus has to offer. You have the whole day to explore before the cider tour starts outside Hotel Ullensvang in the evening with a guided garden walk to Opedal. This tour is operated jointly by Opedalstunet and Alvavoll Frukt og Sidergard, so you never know which way the tour will take! Opedal is the most intense and central fruit area in Norway - with a unique story. The farms here are well run and produce plums, morels, pears and apples.

When you return to the hotel after your cider tasting, you can relax in the hotel's fjord garden. Or you can enjoy yourself in Ullensvang Bath. Relax in the sauna with panorama views of the fjord and mountains, followed by a refreshing dip in the outdoors pool. During dinner, you can expand your cider skills by tasting drops from another of the 19 producers found here in Hardanger.

After a good night’s sleep, round off your short break with a hearty breakfast served with local apple juice.

Feel free to stay more nights and experience more of Hardanger. Here you can, among other things, walk Dronningsstien, one of HM Queen Sonja's favorite walks, go on a hike to Vøringsfossen waterfall or take a spectacular selfie on Trolltunga. See more activities here.
