Day 1: A manor stay at Losby Gods

Just 20 minutes' journey from Oslo city center and only 10 minutes from Lillestrøm a country lane winds majestically into the deep forest. In the middle of magnificent nature, and the mystery of the woods, Losby Gods emerges The manor reveals itself surrounded by a calm, and a harmony you have never experienced before. You have entered the heart of the countryside, where rustic charm meets dark mystique of the forest. Losby Gods a large country estate, steeped in over 170 years of history, elegancy and tradition.

Losby has two separate courses, Østmork the 18 hole championship course and Vestmork the 9 hole course, both designed by the renowned golf course architect, Peter Nordwall.

The championship course is perfectly integrated alongside the meandering path of the Losby River that runs through the valley. This combined with the size and quality of the greens makes Østmork probably the finest in Norway. Vestmork compliments the championship course perfectly, and with its compact and challenging design is a worthy alternative for those who wish a ‘quick nine holes’.

The green keeping staff has the experience, knowledge and professionalism to hold the entire facility in first class shape throughout the year.

In addition, the estate has the fantastic nature of Østmarka next door, with great hiking opportunities all year round. Pack a picnic basket and eat supper outside on a bright summer evening while the bumblebees buzz and the sparrows sings. At Mønevann you can rent a canoe, or lie down on a rocky shore and just enjoy the warm sun rays against your skin. Borrow a bicycle from the reception and explore all the historical sites nearby, such as old farms, homesteads / cotter’s holdings and the old waterwheel. Start your autumn day with a brisk jog through the colourful forest, and glide through the winter landscape on skis or with cosy sleigh rides on a cold winter's day.

In the mid-1800s, it was the Meyer family who owned Losby. The head of the familye Jacob Meyer decided to build a hunting castle on the property where they could invite the capital's elite for recreation and representation. Both royalty and the elite travelled here to hunt and to enjoy the dinner parties and festivities on the estate which were widely known. Losby was described as a place where guests were greeted with overwhelming hospitality. This tradition continues today.

Losby Gods is known for its cuisine and its well-stocked wine cellar and this evening you will enjoy a tasty meal in the restaurant on the estate.

Day 2: From Losby to Sundvolden

After a hearty breakfast and some strokes on the course it's time to head towards Sundvolden. The fastest route between the two resorts is following E18 and E16 which takes approx. 1,5 hours. Should you want the more scenic route we can recommend driving the northern route which takes you via Roa through the fields and past historic sights along the way. This route takes about 2 hours.

Tyrifjord Golf Club, just 5 minutes from Sundvolden Hotel, is a delightful and relaxing place for golf. The island is an oasis of natural beauty and culture. This gem of a golf course is situated in such a picturesque location in this scenic country. The quality of the greens and fairways is well-known.

At the entrance to the fabled Krokskogen lies one of Norway's most traditional and oldest hotels – Sundvolden Hotel. For close to a thousand years, kings, nobles, business travelers and, more recently, modern businesswomen and men have made pilgrimages here. As a guest at Sundvolden, you are the number one priority, and the staff will do everything they can to make your stay a memorable one. The hotel can offer experiences such as spa, swimming, bicycles and kayaking, and if you are interested in art, the hotel itself is a gallery - with several great works of art by renowned artists.

Sundvolden has been mentioned as a place to eat since 1648. The staff consists of 16 skilled chefs, who together develop new flavors and combinations every day. Many of the indredients come from the local farmers and are seasoned with herbs from our own garden. In the evening you will enjoy a 4 course dinner in the restaurant. The food is prepared with love for the raw materials, good patience and always from scratch.
